Hi,

Thank you for your query.

Yes we do offer the above to other children. Our usual assessment days run for 2 days and include an assessment, provision and teaching of a home exercise programme including a demonstration DVD and hydrotherapy. We offer regular reassessments following the initial assessment every 4-6 months. We have 3 centres in the UK with the below therapists.

I am in the US, but curious does NHS pay for SDR there?  Or is this an out of pocket expense for families and children in England?

Hi,

The NHS is funding some children for SDR but there are strict criteria for this. Once the operation has taken place the package of care comes with rehabilitation included funding a certain amount of physio sessions post op. However families are paying for private physio sessions to top up on what the NHS provides.

If a child would benefit from SDR but fails the NHS criteria ie. is a GMFCS grade 3 families are paying for the surgery abroad returning to the UK and then are responsible for paying for all physio.

Our SDR rehab package is paid for by parents but as we are a charity it is subsidised and once a child has attended for an initial assessment families have the opportunity to meet with our fundraising team who can raise money in a child’s name and this is donated towards their next assessment.

Hope this is of some help.
