Athleisurewear has fast become one of my favourite trends, but, what exactly is it?

Athleisure is a trend that embraces functionality and comfort, whilst keeping your look fashionable, edgy and classy.

Is it really acceptable to wear my comfy yoga pants all day long, you ask? Of course!

And over my next 4 blogs, I'm going to show you how to style some signature athleisure pieces to take you from spin to the school run.

It’s the perfect combination for those with an active lifestyle who still want that minimal effortless look. I love it!

In this post I will show you the main principles of rocking this trend, the core staples you’ll need in your wardrobe and most importantly how to style it.

The basic principles of this trend are simple - , mixing and matching your core wardrobe staples with your active wear. It’s that easy! Whether you’re style is more Kendall Jenner or Jessica Alba, there is a look to suit your style, personality and lifestyle. It’s easy, adaptable and wearable.

Outfit 1.

With this look I’ve used my activewear staples as the base - leggings (Primark £8) and a vest (Topshop £10) - then layered them with a casual denim shirt and trench coat.

The denim shirt (Stradivarius £8) is a great in-between layering piece to add to almost any outfit. It’s easy to throw on and perfect if you live somewhere with very in-between weather.

By adding a capsule trench coat your look is instantly clean, chic and grown up. This trench coat by H&M is such a steal at just £59.99. The fabric is strong and structured which instantly adds a clean, classic edge to this super comfortable cool look.

As a finishing touch I’ve added a pop of colour with a red cross-body bag. Not only does it give the outfit a lift it is but it is perfect for keeping those small essentials with you at all times.

To finish the look a cool pair of sneakers is all you need. I’ve opted for plain white Stan Smiths from Adidas to keep the look effortless.

Outfit 2

Casual grey sweaters are one of my favourite pieces to add to any athleisure look - cool, cosy and casual. They are an easy throw on for any occasion and instantly add the sport luxe vibe to any outfit.

I’ve dressed this Zara basic sweater (£12) with my even more basic Mom Jeans from Primark (£5).

This is the perfect outfit for when you need something to throw on and go.

Again adding the red cross-body bag gives it a cute splash of colour and the sneakers finish it off with a casual edge.

Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow for part two of how to wear athleisure
