In a previous post I discussed the importance trying to avoid or eliminate certain “unclean” ingredients in the diets of children with special needs.
This often means saying goodbye to a lot of your child’s favorite foods such a frozen pizza, chicken nuggets, ice cream, macaroni and cheese and so on.
This may not go over so well in some households!
One of the best solutions is to “clean up” your child’s favorite food so certain unnecessary and sometimes-harmful ingredients are avoided.
I wanted to share a few of my cleaner recipes for some common kid-friendly foods.
These recipes are both easy and gluten and dairy-free since a lot of special needs kids are avoiding one or both.
Again, children are different as far as their taste preferences but always give new foods numerous tries before throwing in the towel.
3 ripe bananas
2 avocados, peeled and pitted
6 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla
Place bananas and avocados into a food processor or blender, and blend until smooth.
Add the cocoa powder and vanilla, and blend until thoroughly combined.
Divide into four single-serve cups.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
If a venue improved its changing facilities, would you be more likely to visit it with your disabled child?
