It’s coming, everyone. The cooler temperatures that sneak in with fall and winter are on their way quite soon.
Here in the upper Midwest things can go from 65 degrees and sunny to a chilly 30 degrees in literally one day.
Have you seen the funny little cartoon that says, “The air hurts my face. Why do I live somewhere where the air hurts my face?!”
Well, that is what winter in the upper Midwest feels like.
This is my favorite time of year from a wardrobe standpoint, because you can layer and layer and be cozy, all the while being fashionable and put together. I wrote a post on cold-weather gear for children, and thought it would be fun to do a post of the same type of gear for women and men.
These may not be pieces you can wear for the next twenty years, but for under $50 each your cold weather outfits will look current and stylish.
I think vests are a great layering option in colder months for women.
They can be worn over long sleeved shirts, or piled on top of a sweater or thinner jacket for ultimate warmth. Ponchos are a common trend this fall, and can be easily worn over a long sleeved tee and leggings. A cozy scarf is a personal wardrobe staple for running errands or sitting in front of the fireplace at home.

The men need to bundle up and look stylish doing it as well. There are some great reasonably priced options available from vests to soft flannel scarves.
